Radio DJ Mister Cee(left) with Transsexual(right)

It has been all over your TV screens in light of Hot 97 radio DJ Mister Cee being arrested for allegedly receiving fellatio from a transsexual prostitute. This has had the Hip Hop and African American community in pretty much an uproar, boycotting the New York radio station because they “didn’t want f**gots on their speakers” or “it was so disrespectful to the late Notorious BIG” because Mister Cee was the executive producer on the Ready to Die album. But WHY does homosexuality or bisexuality among males have such a negative connotation with it?

Dustin from Real World Las Vegas

I watched an episode of Real World Las Vegas a few nights ago where one of the cast members had revealed to the viewers but not his fellow roommates that he was a Gay for Pay porn star, yet he did not consider himself bisexual. The discussion that the cast members had was that if a man has sex with another man, he is gay and that’s that. The former porn star, Dustin, while obviously uncomfortable praised to the high heavens how homophobic he seemed, which I found weird. I thought to myself, um didn’t I see another man’s penis in your mouth on a porn site literally 3 weeks ago, yet you would fight a man if he stared at you with your shirt off?

Sighs. Sweet baby Jesus.

Any who, there is truly a double standard to bisexuality when it comes to men and women. Women are usually more accepted in society when it comes to being bisexual or lesbian. With men, it’s either you are gay or straight, no in between. Why is this? This is particularly popular among African American men as well. I believe that due to such the negative feedback that is associated with being a bisexual individual, let alone a bisexual man, many individuals choose to keep their business private. Unfortunately we get what is called the ‘Down-Low’ man. He is married/committed to a woman, yet has sexual encounters with other men.

My personal opinion is that you like what you like. You cant help that. But once you start lying because of what others may say, that’s when you fuck up. If more men were openly bisexual there wouldn’t be so much drama when a man comes out and men like Mister Cee would not have to look for prostitutes to keep them happy.

What do you all think? Is there a such thing as bisexuality? if a man is a bottom with another man but only dates wonen, is he gay or does he just like it in the butt once in a while? Leave comments, discuss, debate. i want to know your thoughts!

Again, Love you guys! Deuces!

Beauty Find of the Week 1/12/2011

Beauty Find of the Week 1/12
MAC Ruby Woo Matte Lipstick

Hey everyone it’s Daisy here, I’ve decided to have a weekly segment. Since I am such a beauty junkie, I decided to share some products that I have purchased that I am absolutely in love with. I buy a lot of things but I decided to keep it to a minimum with every review.

Ladies, i know that there are ALOT of you who are terrified to wear a red lip. Heck I was one of those women! I was scared that a red lip would not look good on me because my lips were too big. That sounds ridiculous now, but that wAs my theory. But this find eased all my woes about bright lipsticks on tan or deeper complexions. Beauty find that I am LOVING at the moment is MAC’s Ruby Woo Matte Lipstick.

Me wearing the Matte Lipstick

Although it is a matte lipstick, it is not as drying as other lipsticks out on the market. MAC lip colors have somewhat of a velvety finish and long lasting wear, so I was excited about this find. It’s a little pricey for a lipstick ($14.50) but I have found that this seems to be the perfect red lip for everyone. When used with a liner, it helps for the lipstick to be more forgiving of error. The liner I use is Brick by MAC as well. I slightly fill in my lip with the liner and then go over it with the Ruby Woo. It has somewhat of a cool undertone so even though it is a bright red, it is still tame enough to not make you look crazy. Or like a street walker.

I was trying for MONTHS to find a red matte lip color and I thought I discovered in L’oreal Infallible lip color in Beyonce. Now that lipstick was WAY too red and had me looking really nuts. Something I did not want. So I gave it to my mother, who is a lighter complexion than me and it looks great on her.

All in all, I love MAC’s Ruby Woo Matte Lipstick because it is perfect for every woman, no matter what complexion you are. This is one product I think every woman should have in their makeup collection.

Wendy Williams Holiday Party

Posted by: daisydukes987 on: January 9, 2011

Hey everyone, its Daisy here. I know I am a little late with this post  but bear with me. I just wanted to tell you about this party that I went to about a week and a half ago. On December 29th 2010, my friend Cliche and I attended the Wendy Williams holiday party. The party was only for a select few and was thrown by wendy to show her gratitude to her fans for supporting her show. I had been in the guest audience  in the summer of 2009, which was within the first two weeks of the show, so of course you could imagine my amazement and shock when Ireceived an email from the party planner asking me to attend. I had always been a fan of Wendy’s so of course I could not wait to attend this event.

The party was thrown at Nikki Midtown which was located on the East Side. The DJ of the party was DJ Boof. I think this was a DJ from 107.5FM WBLS but i am not 100% sure. When we intially walked into the party at around 830, there was already a good amount of people at the venue already. The party was sponsored by Godiva Vodka and had about three drink specials. The drinks weree fabulous. The drink that I had was chocolate raspberry, which consisted of Chambord, chocolate flavored Godiva vodka and champagne.

The DJ was great. he was spinning everything from old school Michael jackson to 90s R&B to current hits today(although i did feel a certain way when he played Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair”. I can never get used to that song playing in a club.) I could see why Wendy chose him to be the DJ.

As far as Wendy, she arrived at the party around 1030 in all black. She stayed in the VIP but I couldn’t help but notice the BOMB Christian louboutin boots that she was wearing. They were so nice I was ready to save up just to buy a pair! Then I saw the price and headed back into reality. My friend and I attempted to get pictures of Wendy, but was told by Wendy’s security we were not allowed to take any pictures. I believe this was for press purposes.

The place was jam packed with Wendy fans and everyone seemed to be having a great time! The partygoers looked to be about 25 and over, so Cliche and I seemed to have been the youngest ones at the event(she is 22, I am 23), everyone was getting down! Grown folks dancing on tables! It did not matter how old you were, everybody had fun partying with Wendy!

Everything from the venue to the drinks was nothing short of amazing! I felt so honored that I was invited to this event and that I was fortunate enough to bring a friend with me as well. Wendy is still a friend in my head and after being the QUEEN of radio for years and is slowly making that move and her stamp on morning talk show television. I wish her nothing but the best!

Best Primer for Oily Skin: Milk of Magnesia???!!!???

Posted by: daisydukes987 on: January 5, 2011

Yes, you read right. Return that MAC Prep and Prime, toss out that Urban Decay. The best face primer I have used so far since using makeup is Milk of Magnesia. Compared to other marketed products, this $3 magic in a bottle serves as a duo purpose for upset stomach and giving oily skin a matte finish before applying your makeup.

Although this does seem, disgusting and downright wrong, this seems to be a beauty secret among most makeup gurus. if you have oily skin like me, you know that putting makeup on and having it melt off due to humidity or your oily face is annoying. This product is one of the few makeup secrets that i have found actually works.

What you do is take a cotton ball and dab some Milk of Magnesia onto it. Then apply a thin layer of the milk of magnesia all over your face. There may be parts that may turn white but you can simply remove that by taking a wet napkin and wiping the white area off. You can either leave as is with no face makeup or apply powder or liquid foundation over it.

Hope this helps you all!

New Year, New Hair Journey

Posted by: daisydukes987 on: January 4, 2011

Hey everyone, its Daisy here. Happy new Year! After speaking to a few people recently and them all asking me how my hair grew so long so fast (i went from neck length to a right about shoulder length. my goal is mid back length). i relaxed my hair after being natural for 2 and a half years, mainly because it wasnt for me. i have had relaxed hair since i believe early or mid august and have had healthy hair growth since. i have decided to share my tips on natural or relaxed hair growth because these tips can help for anyone who is trying to achieve hairgrowth.

First misconception that is told is “black hair cant grow”. this is NOT true whatsoever. all living things must grow therefore your hair IS growing. for my relaxed ladies, if you are due for a relaxer because your new growth is giving you hell, your hair is growing. the issue is MAINTAINING that . Avoiding hair breakage is key to amplifying the potential of your hair and its hair growth. Now i will list some key points in optimal hair care.

1)Minimize heat-Now this is rocket science but alot of people do not follow this staple rule and are usually the ones complaining about thinning, crunchy, breaking hair. reducing heat usage on your hair can improve your hair quality DRAMATICALLY. Protective styles can aid in avoiding manipulation of your hair with heat or comb. Weaves and braids can be good protective styles as long as you take care of your hair underneath. Buns, rollersets, braidouts, etc can all be useful styles for minimal heat.

2)Drink water and eat a balanced diet-I know it sounds kind of cliche this rule, but it is true that whatever you put into your body is reflected outwards. 6-8 glasses of water is imperative to stay hydrated as well as eating a balanced meal.

3)Take vitamins-Now if you are like me, and are not the best when it comes to eating right, taking vitamins are great for aiding hair growth. Biotin vitamins are essential for hair growth, they improve the quality of hair as well as speed up the growth. the growth speed isnt drastic but it is helpful. Vitamin E is also a great vitamin. A good mulivitamin, such as One a Day or Centrum is also needed.

4) Moisture, moisture, moisturize!- it is imperative that with African American hair that you moisturize. Now, when it comes to moisturizing, be sure to use natural oils, such as coconut oil, olive oil and argan oil and STAY AWAY from petroleum jelly and mineral oil which tends to clog the hair follicles and just coat the hair shaft rather then penetrate it.

5)Deep Condition-deep conditioning should be done at least once a week. This helps the hair to get proper moisture as well as fully penetrate the hair. Good deep conditioners are Nexxus Emergencee Strengthening Polymeric Reconstructor and Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Deep Conditioner.

Posted by: daisydukes987 on: December 28, 2010

Hey everyone! Its Daisy here and im back! I decided that since school is finally over, I wanted to really get started in blogging again. My blog was usually random thoughts that I was coming up with but I decided that I would ‘up the ante’ and venture out into more things, such as makeup, hair, fashion and entertainment, as well as the fun little writing and rants that I love to do! Since it is a new year, its a fresh start. I am not going to get rid of my previous blogs because I believe they can relate with my new ones as well. I plan on making different vlogs as well to match with some of my makeup and fashion blogs. I hope you all had a happy holiday and have a happy happy New Year!

Late Night Ramble

Posted by: daisydukes987 on: May 25, 2010

Ok I know it has been a while since I've written anything but I just felt the
need to write a blog after a few months. Its getting to the point where Twitter
is not a good output being the fact that there is only so much you can say in
140 characters. Rather than spam up the smiline of my many followers, I have
decided to visit my blog once again, hoping to reunite with the writing passion
I once had.
Sitting here in my room, unable to sleep, waiting for this cold medicine to kick
in, dozens of thoughts race through my mind. While some positive, such as my
trip to Houston at the end of the week, others are not so positive, such as the
way someone said this to me or treated me that way. Unfortunately, my mind is
always overpowered my the negative or bad thoughts, as well as when it comes to
the decisions I make with myself or the company I keep. Sometimes I look at
myself in the mirror and wonder why certain things happen to me. Sometimes I
feel like I live in "Eff My Life" moments on a day to day basis. Although I love
myself and don't expect others to view me the same as I view myself, I still try
to treat everyone fairly and kindly. This kindness is almost always interpreted
as weakness. Friends come and go with the changes in the weather forecast. This,
at 22 years of age, I am now understanding how true this is. The same people who
I was so close with 1 year...6 months...or even 3months ago, I barely even speak
to now. Which is completely fine, because like I said, friends come and go with
the changes in the weather. Individuals who I expected to be in my wedding, its
sad that I would now not even want to invite them out to eat a poor man's meal
with me.
Being the Virgo that I am, I must admit I am a very emotional person, as well as
the passive aggressive type. I was not sure what passive aggressive exactly was
until a friend of mine explained that being passive aggressive actually meant.
It meant letting things slide and keep building up until you just explode and
that is certainly the type of person I am. Also having anger issues does not
help this at all, because when I go off, I GO OFF!
Another thing with being a Virgo is the emotional factor. As emotional as I am,
I am a very generous person and I wear my heart on my sleeve. Again with people
taking my kindness for weakness, this attribute can also be the death of me. I
always wished I wasn't so nice, but not being nice is about as easy as a heroin
addict stopping cold turkey. Of course I have the time when I can be the biggest
bitch you can ever meet, but also a sweetheart. I have yet to fuse these two
eqally strong and total opposite traits together.
Yes I am rambling, that is the beauty of late night blogs. The (houghts just
running through your mind and unless transferred onto the computer screen just
take over your nightly regime. And as I write this, mu eyes get heavy as Nyquil
starts to kick into high gear.
It was refreshing writing this blog. Although it seemed like rambles this is
usually the common thoughts I have on a daily. This was a breath of fresh air. I
hope to continue these without being stricken with boredom...or fatigue.

Self Hate? I Think Not…

Posted by: daisydukes987 on: February 3, 2010

Hey Blog World! It’s me Daisy and I’m back! I’m sorry it has taken me so long to write another blog. School just started back up, I’ve been working like a madwoman, and I’ve had the worst case of writers block imaginable. But I finally have a blog worth writing and it has been an issue bothering me for a while now. And it was all thanks to a hater on a particular website.

On this particular site, I stated the type of men that I prefer to date, which are lightskin Black or Hispanic. In response, I received a nasty message from a MAN calling me a “goody too shoes self hating bitch”. Is this because I speak proper English and dont sound like a bird? Although my first initial reaction was laughter, it was quickly followed by annoyance. I thought to myself, why does having a preference have to be equivalent to self hate? Is that any different than a guy liking certain physical features on a girl, such as a big butt or huge breasts? I think not. And what does the way I speak have anything to do with it? It is just a personal preference that was blown WAY out of proportion. This 3-line message actually opened up a floodgate in my mind of other times I have been accused of “self hate”.

My feeling isn’t that of “self hate”. It is things that I HATE that some minorities do to make us as a whole look bad! It annoys me to the CORE when someone tells me I’m wrong for calling a certain black person ghetto or ignorant. Why is that wrong? I call it like I see it. If you are being OBNOXIOUSLY loud or oblivious to current events or act like you have no home training, yes I AM going to call you ghetto. Yes I AM going to say you are on some “coonery” mess right now. I don’t know where YOU’RE from, but where I come from, screaming at the person next to you is not normal. Speaking as though you have no common sense is not normal. I don’t know why ANYONE would find this normal. Perfect example, I hate my college. Why? Because the students that go to my school PLAY MUSIC AND BREAKDANCE in the LIBRARY and no one seems to stop them or care. And all I can do is shake my head like, black people we have to do better! Some black people or other minorities are always complaining that “the man” holds them down. I think that is bullshit. I believe that for the 1 good educated black man, there are about 10 street hustlers and ones that are up to no good. This may sound like a “self hate” rant but this is the sad and honest truth.

My father is a very hard working man who has two jobs, him and my mother have been married for 30 years, and he supports my 4 other siblings and I, and we happen to live in a pretty good residential neighborhood. I don’t say I’m from the “hood” or whatever because that isn’t something I think should be glorified. I am not saying that all minorities are bad, not at all. I love being black and wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world. But knowing the different stereotypes put out there, I believe we have to work twice as hard to prove ourselves, and I have no problem proving people wrong, but it is the LAZINESS of some people that piss me off SO much and then they complain about how broke they are or how things aren’t going their way. You have to walk through the weeds to get to the flowers and opportunity has no hands to knock on your door. You have to KICK down the door with Timberland boots on. Hard work is real, luck is a fairytale for suckers.

This blog did track off into a completely different topic, but at the end of the day it is still the same message. Minorities DO get the short end of the stick, whether it is financially, dating wise or just life in general. But it is up to US as PEOPLE to prove society wrong, rather than play into it. I am a proud Nigerian American. I am a trendsetter who makes my own way and I who refuses to let the obstacles and stereotypes consume and define me as a being.
